‘Just ask: Experiences of men after disaster.’

On November 26th, 2013 the key learnings and recommendations from the ‘Men on Black Saturday’ research was launched at the ‘Just ask’ Conference in Melbourne.

The 2013 conference brought together representatives from the emergency management sector, the Federal, State and Local Governments, and other key organisations. The aim of the conference was to inform responses to men in future disasters, and is premised on the belief that if men can be helped in a more effective and timely way post-disaster, adverse consequences for themselves and the women and children around them will be reduced.

Expectation of men to protect and be strong and expectations of women to nurture and be selfless limit expression, safely and wellbeing.

Women’s Health Goulburn North East is a dynamic, independent, feminist organisation committed to improving the health and wellbeing of women in the Goulburn Valley and North East Victoria.
